A number of visitors to the website have inquired about the specifics surrounding the inclusion of If I Needed You, the duet recorded by Townes Van Zandt and Jonell Mosser, that appears on my Where Love Goes Soundtrack. Of course, his fans know that he wrote the song long before this recording was made, but this is the one time that If I Needed You was recorded by him as a duet -- the last few lines of the last verse rewritten on the spot, in the studio. The song If I Needed You was recorded specially for this soundtrack, at the Javelina Studios in Nashville, and would not have been possible without the prodigious producing talents of Dub Conett of Jagged Line Studios, engineering by Larry Jefferies, with additional assistance from Steve Earle. Vocals: Townes Van Zandt and Jonell Mosser; Guitar: Steve Earle; Octave mandolin: Kieran Kane; Fiddle: Tammy Rogers; Mandolin: George Pearce; Bass: Dave Jacques. Thanks also to Jeanene Van Zandt, and above all, to a rare and lovely man, Townes Van Zandt.
