A One-Day Memoir Workshop with Joyce Maynard

Join me and a small group of nine women at my home in Lafayette, California, for an all-day memoir workshop to launch your writing year. If you have a hard time starting a writing project, or you're feeling stuck, we'll work together to help you tap into a new vein of creative energy. If you're already deep into a piece of work, my hope is that our time together will give you a fresh eye on your project, and the inspiration to move forward with energy and command of your story. This retreat is focused on supporting you, at whatever point you may find yourself in your writing life, to finding inspiration, new tools, and the support of being part of a community of writers who share your desire to tell your story in the most meaningful and powerful way you can.

We’ll meet at my home in Lafayette, California—not far from Oakand and Berkeley, an hour’s BART train ride from San Francisco.  For the roughly nine hours that follow, we’ll explore questions like where to find the heart of your story, “point of entry”, how to shape a story arc, dialogue, language, landing place. That’s a lot of ground to cover in a single day.  That’s why I’ll be sure to have lots of good coffee on hand….

Next date: November 21
Tuition: $450
Group size: Limited to nine participants

Attendees will receive a letter with more details ahead of the day.
